Cbeam Overview

The Good Things Keep Getting Better?

Cbeam is a continuous beam software package that allows the user to solve statically indeterminate beam structures. Multiple span elements of like or varying elasticity, along with uniform, distributed, and concentrated loads, and defined support and hinge conditions are available to the user.

Highlights

Graphical Reviews
Review of shear, moment and deflection diagrams

Elasticity
Varying elasticity values for material selections

Property Database
Built in steel and aluminum database for member section properties

Batch
Batch plotting available along with user defined data and sequential page numbering

Update Info

In addition to the Cbeam R5 key features (left), the 2021 update release offers additional benefits (right) that aide the user in new computation methods, design parameter reviews, and expanded report notations in the viewer beam report.

Within the same intuitive interface, the user can take advantage of the Design Parameters tab to compare computed results to defined deflection, and stress limits; report deadload reaction magnitude for applicable levels and SMART labeling on the viewer model.

Update Features

Design Parameters Tab
Allows for design criteria input

Deadload Reaction Calculation
Calculates Deadload based on defined unit weights and member length

Wind & Deadload Reactions
Reactions displayed at each support location

Splice & Beam Callouts
Auto-generated callouts are published on a beam diagram

Parameter Dialog

Define Beam Deflection Criteria

  • Define Beam Deflection L/Ratio or L/Ratio + content
  • Define Maximum Value (in tandem with Ratio)

Define Stress Allowable for Primary Beam and Reinforcement

  • Red highlight print if Deflection- Stress > Allowables

Define Windload and Deadload Criteria

  • Defined Parameters used to populate notations and results
  • Computes evaluation of actuals to allowables limits
  • Determines TW (Tri Width) based on actual loadings
  • Computes Vertical reactions
Cbeam Calculations

Results Summary Compared To Design Limited

Cbeam Calculates Deadload based on defined unit weights and member length determination by means of SMART icons defined by beam diagram

  • Deadload reaction calculated per defined design parameters (Module Width x Beam Length x Design Deadload)
  • WL- Only and WL/DL Supports are determined with SMART labeling of the support icons
  • Splice/Hinge locations by default determine the beam length for DL computation
Cbeam Callouts

Beam Annotations

Splice and Floor Callouts are published on Beam Diagram

  • Cbeam will auto-generate floor labels at supports (i.e. Level 1, Level 2, etc..) and splice labels at hinges to document the beam diagram
  • Splice and Floor Callouts can be edited in the Cbeam viewer or Toggled off to not be shown
  • SMART Icon use is critical for accuracy of reaction computations - User defined icons, trigger lengths, and accuracy of vertical load calculations
Cbeam Reactions

Enhanced Viewer Notations and Auto-Labeling

Windload and Deadload Reactions

Reactions are published at the support locations on the beam diagram

  • Displayed at each support/level location
  • Horizontal and Vertical reaction values

Smart Icon Notation

Drives Member Length and Deadload Evaluation

  • Proper Use of support and hinge icons drives
